We hired a taxi and went to Petropolis where Don Pedro is from.  There is a statue of him, his house and a museum there.  He said something famous from the middle of the city but the driver (Sergio) didn't remember what it was.  30 years later I can Google it and find out he was the first Emperor of Brazil but I don't find any famous things he said from the heart of Petropolis.  (Maybe he declared independence there?)

Nós alugamos um táxi e fomos para Petrópolis de onde Don Pedro é. Há uma estátua dele, sua casa e um museu lá. Ele disse algo famoso do meio da cidade, mas o motorista (Sergio) não se lembrava do que era. 30 anos depois, posso pesquisar no Google e descobrir que ele foi o primeiro imperador do Brasil, mas não encontrei nenhuma coisa famosa que ele disse no coração de Petrópolis. (Talvez ele tenha declarado independência lá?)

I had a bit of culture shock being back among hot and cold water with a real shower in a real bathtub.  Air-conditioning, CNN news, real-tasting milk and waffles.

Eu tive um pouco de choque cultural estando de volta entre água quente e fria com um verdadeiro banho em uma verdadeira banheira. Ar-condicionado, notícias da CNN, leite e waffles com sabor real.
