I got a letter from Scott (a friend from San Antonio who was spending the year as a German exchange student) and Kai (who had been an exchange student from Germany to our high school). It was a very creative letter because they'd take turns writing while the other one was doing something normal but still silly-sounding. Like eating soup, or shaving.
Recebi uma carta de Scott (um amigo de San Antonio que estava passando o ano como estudante de intercâmbio na Alemanha) e Kai (que era um estudante de intercâmbio da Alemanha para a nossa escola). Era uma carta muito criativa porque eles se revezavam para escrever enquanto o outro estava fazendo algo normal, mas ainda era tolo. Como comer sopa ou barbear.
I helped Nilvinha get the family Christmas cards ready. She kept typing one-fingered but finally I convinced her that I could do it faster.

I talked to Guta today and realized some of my initial impressions of her were wrong and that she is really super, super nice. Not only do Brazilian newlyweds receive tons of super nice gifts but their moms and grandmas cook months and months worth of food for their freezer.
Eu falei com Guta hoje e percebi que algumas das minhas impressões iniciais dela estavam erradas e que ela é realmente super, super legal. Não só os recém-casados brasileiros recebem toneladas de presentes super legais, mas suas mães e avós cozinham meses e meses de comida para o congelador.
