Rua Sem Saida - I like the sound of that. It means Dead End Street. I saw it on a sign while Wilson took me driving around to some parts of the city. We went to the stadium where the Corinthians and Palmeiras play (2 soccer teams of the state), the university where if you pass their Vestibular (test) they accept you and you don't pay anything. (OK - turns out all colleges work like that in Brazil.) Michele and Silvia studied there and Wilson is still studying there. They have a really big sports complex that's free for the students also, it even has a bike racing stadium. Then we went to some Antique and Arts and Crafts show on the ground of some art museum. We also went to a big park called Ibirapuera, it was really nice, even better than Chapultapec in Mexico. There were tons of couples there but also lots of people riding bikes, playing soccer or running.
Rua Sem Saida - Eu gosto do som disso. Significa Dead End Street. Eu vi isso em um sinal, enquanto Wilson me levou dirigindo para algumas partes da cidade. Nós fomos para o estádio onde o Corinthians e Palmeiras jogam (2 equipes de futebol do estado), a universidade onde se você passa seu Vestibular (teste), eles aceitam você e você não paga nada. (OK - verifica que todas as faculdades funcionam assim no Brasil.) MIchele e Silvia estudaram lá e Wilson ainda está estudando lá. Eles têm um grande complexo esportivo que também é gratuito para estudantes e ainda tem um estádio de corrida de bicicleta. Então fomos a algum show de Antique e Arts and Crafts no campo de algum museu de arte. Nós também fomos a um grande parque chamado Ibirapuera, foi muito bom, melhor ainda do que Chapultapec no México. Havia muitos casais lá, mas também muitas pessoas andando de bicicleta, jogando futebol ou correndo.
In the evening we went to Michel's house, I even learned a little German because that's almost all they speak. I liked it and thought German would be the next language I learned. (In fact, when I returned home and started college I did study German.)
À noite, fomos até a casa de Michel, até aprendi um pouco de alemão porque é quase tudo o que eles falam. Gostei e pensei que o alemão seria a próxima língua que aprendi. (Na verdade, quando voltei para casa e comecei na faculdade, estudei alemão).
Later we went driving around the back mountains of Sao Paulo where some really rich people live near a lake.
Mais tarde, fomos dirigindo pelas montanhas traseiras de São Paulo, onde pessoas realmente ricas vivem perto de um lago.
